Site Area : 14 Cents Project Area: 2700 Sqft
The site is located at Akanad, a small hamlet near to Perumbavoor was chosen by the client and their child due to the fortuitous presence of mango trees on the site. As the name suggests, the mango trees became the focal point and inspiration for the design of this house, with the goal of creating private living spaces that still capture the feeling of being under the lush foliage of the mango trees.
The house plan was conceived as a solid wall envelope from the outside, providing privacy and seclusion. However, once inside this envelope, all the spaces were designed as pavilions that face the mango trees. This design approach blurs the boundaries between inside and outside, creating a seamless connection with nature.
The design incorporated several delightful features to enhance the experience. These include an extended bridge in the stair landing, a private balcony overlooking the mango trees, terrace planters, bay windows, and a fore room with a semi-open roof to allow the monsoon rains to enter and provide glimpses of the starry night sky. Users can spend time working out, reading, meditating, or simply engaging in self-reflection, daydreaming, and embracing moments of idleness.
The house design captures the essence of being surrounded by mango trees and translates it into a living experience that harmonizes with nature. It offers private and intimate spaces while maintaining a strong connection to the outdoor environment.
